Two successes to report: Marc Bureau and Brian Lawton

Never drafted by an NHL team, Marc Bureau was signed as a free agent by the Calgary Flames after scoring 54 goals for the Longueuil Chevaliers in 1986-87. With Calgary's logjam at the center position, Bureau was traded to Minnesota for a third round choice (Sandy McCarthy) in 1991. He was claimed by the newly formed Tampa Bay Lightning in the 1992 NHL Expansion Draft, where he would enjoy his most successful years in the NHL.

He signed 4 cards from his home in 14 days.

Brian Lawton played 483 regular season games in the NHL between the 1983 and 1993. Drafted first overall by the Minnesota North Stars in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft, Lawton played for the North Stars, New York Rangers, Hartford Whalers, Quebec Nordiques, Boston Bruins and San Jose Sharks, and was the Tampa Bay Lightning general manager.
