Four successes to report today: Rick Vaive, Michel Petit, Pat Elynuik, & Perry Berezan



Selected fifth overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 1979 NHL Entry Draft, Rick Vaive played 14 seasons in the NHL for the Vancouver Canucks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks, and Buffalo Sabres. In 1980, the Canucks traded Vaive to the Maple Leafs. Vaive scored prolifically with the Leafs, becoming the first 50-goal scorer in franchise history, surpassing that threshold three times. He recorded 54 goals in 1981–82, 51 goals in 1982–83, and 52 goals in 1983–84. Vaive's 54-goal season would stand as a Toronto Maple Leafs franchise record for 40 years before it was surpassed.





Michel Petit was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft in the first round, eleventh overall. During his 17 seasons in the NHL he played for ten different NHL teams, which as of 2017 was tied as the second-most by any player. Petit played for the Vancouver Canucks, New York Rangers, Quebec Nordiques, Toronto Maple Leafs, Calgary Flames, Los Angeles Kings, Tampa Bay Lightning, Edmonton Oilers, Philadelphia Flyers, and Phoenix Coyotes In his 17 seasons of playing hockey, he amassed a total of 90 goals, 238 assists, 328 points, 1839 penalty minutes, and 827 games played.




Pat Elynuik was drafted in the first round of the 1986 NHL Entry Draft, 8th overall by the Winnipeg Jets. He played 10 seasons in the NHL for the Jets, Washington Capitals, Tampa Bay Lightning and Ottawa Senators. In 506 career games, Elynuik scored 154 goals with 188 assists for 342 points.










Perry Berezan played nine seasons in the National Hockey League between 1985 and 1993. He was a third round selection, 55th overall, of the Calgary Flames at the 1983 NHL Entry Draft and also played for the Minnesota North Stars and San Jose Sharks. He is an alumnus of the University of North Dakota hockey program.
